因應南韓MERS-CoV疫情，臺南市昨（十）日在台南航空站暨南區醫療網台南應變醫院舉行「MERS-CoV疑似旅客收治演練」，模擬疑似染病旅客入境，在機場經紅外線篩點發燒症狀後轉送衛福部臺南應變醫院過程；南市長賴清德、衛福部疾管署南區管制中心主任劉碧隆也赴現場視察，指示立即啟動南市十二家指定隔離醫院，以防疫視同作戰精神完成醫院兵棋推演及實兵防疫演練整備量能，隨時做好面對疫情的準備。
防疫演練由台南航空站、衛福部疾管署南區管制中心及南市衛生、消防、台南醫院等單位共同參與，演練機場發現疑似個案後第一時間通報南區指揮官將病患送醫院過程，確保疫情發生時能及時啟動病患收治機制，並避免發生院內感染。
賴清德說，南韓爆發疫情，台灣與韓國互動頻繁，國內已加強邊境管控制及醫院整備，特選在防疫重要門戶機場及後送的第一家醫院進行演練，另闢後送路徑隔離避免交叉感染，藉此建立入境旅客檢疫因應措施南市已做好準備，未來將依標準作業程式進行，也呼籲大家不要恐慌，也籲請旅行社、航空公司加強注意旅客健康情形。
林聖哲指出，自SARS疫情後，台灣傳染病防治醫療網及防疫制度均已升級，南市指定衛福部台南醫院為應變醫院，具有廿二床負壓隔離病床，尚有其他十一家指定隔離醫院共一百十七床，衛生局平時即要求應變醫院訂定緊急應變計畫並演練，確保防疫人員熟悉流程，也籲請民眾若有發燒現象或去過疫區國家，應儘速尋求醫療單位治療。
